Why ship goods by sea?
Sea freight is the single most efficient way to deliver goods over road, rail, and air travel. Comparatively low fuel to weight ratio, lower capacity restrictions, and larger ranges make it both efficient and reliable. We can service both FCL and LCL loads to meet any order size.
When adequate time is available, sea transport is usually the cheapest option!
LCL - Less-than Container Load
When a shipment is not sufficient to fill a single container it is referred to as an LCL shipment. To save customer costs and maximize efficiency, it becomes necessary to mix and match multiple orders to fill a container to capacity.
This means that smaller loads can still enjoy the benefits of sea transport without incurring unnecessary costs.
FCL - Full Container Load
As the name implies, this refers to when a single order fills one or more container(s) to capacity creating a simple delivery mechanism.
Ideally every container shipment would match this criteria, however this is rarely the case, nor is it absolutely necessary.
What are the risks involved in sea freight?
